BRINGING ANIMALS OVER THE BORDER

Mexican Customs requires that each animal to be used in your production enter the country with a veterinary certificate confirming that the animal has had all appropriate inoculations. U.S. Customs, however, requires that certain animals (horses, for example) be quarantined before being allowed to re-enter the U.S. Check with your broker as soon as you know what type of animals (and how many of each) your production will require. Advanced arrangements and reservations must be made for quarantining animals.
The length of quarantine and the costs for such will vary depending on the animal and the diseases that animals might be susceptible to.
